Innovative Offshore Developments Ltd
The company was formed in 2023 with the sole purpose of developing and commercialisation of the Spar Crane vessel concept.
The company's aim is to fully develop the concept through to initial prototype stage. It also intends to identify suitable industrial partners with an industry presence, able to build, or have built full scale vessels, and who would be willing to produce vessels under license, either for their own use, or for sale, or charter, to others.
Current acidemic and financial partners include the following:

University of Strathclyde
Since 2022 the team at the department of Naval Architecture, Ocean & Marine Engineering at the University of Strathclyde have supported the development of the Spar crane concept.

Innovate UK
In late 2023 Innovate UK awarded Innovative Offshore Developments a Smart grant. This relatively small matched funded grant paid for the second study carried out by the University of Strathclyde.

Newhaven Enterprise Zone
In 2025 a small grant was awarded to Innovative Offshore Developments Ltd by the Newhaven Enterprise Zone, which was used to pay for the international filing of patents.

About the Founder
Steven Peace, the founder is an engineer with over 48 years of experience. Over the last 18 years he has been involved in the development of offshore wind turbines and their associated structures. He has also been widely involved with other shore based renewable energy projects.
